Jue Ann’s Journey to Art Therapy
Her journey to art therapy began with a rich multicultural upbringing. Exposed to diverse experiences and dialects from a young age, she developed a deep appreciation for understanding others. This naturally led her to gravitate towards working with the geriatric population, finding immense value in their stories and experiences.
However, her journey didn’t stop there. Her desire to support individuals across all stages of life grew, encompassing young adults, caregivers, and anyone navigating the challenges of life transitions.
More than just a profession, art therapy for Jue Ann is a journey of shared exploration. Her own experiences have instilled a deep empathy, allowing her to connect with clients on a deeper level.
Her dedication extends beyond therapeutic practices. As a part-time lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts, she shares her expertise with future art therapists. She guides MA Art Therapy students, providing insightful thesis supervision. Additionally, she offers short courses for adult learners, fostering a love for art as a therapeutic tool.
She is constantly seeking new ways to integrate art into the therapeutic process, believing that creativity can be a powerful tool for growth and healing.
Our Client Stories
With our support, you can live intentionally too. These stories showcase how our clients’ lives have been transformed by embracing intentionality.
Story 1
I have been taking art therapy sessions with Jue Ann for a year now. The journey has helped me overcome so much. I went from complaining about everyone to finally focusing on my own growth. To be very honest, what happens in our external lives manifest themselves due to our own inner beliefs.
Really appreciate the changes I feel in myself and really thankful and grateful to have met Jue Ann.
Thank you, Jue Ann for the patience and support even when I was falling back into the dark side at times.
Note to anyone keen on trying art therapy: you do not need to be good in art, it is your determination to work on yourselves that is the most important 🙂
Thanks,
Jo
Story 2
I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety-depression since 2018 and on top of taking daily medications, I’ve been engaged with art therapy sessions for over 3 years now.
Prior to art therapy, I’ve actually tried hypnotherapy and counselling, but they didn’t seem to suit me. Art therapy has met my needs best since I’m somebody who feels more ‘grounded’ when I’m engaged with sensory stimulation and tactile exploration.
Art making in the presence of Jue Ann inspires me to better process, express and regulate my thoughts and emotions.
One of the most rewarding thing I’ve gained through each session was to gain deeper self awareness and I like knowing what goes in my mind.
Focusing on the process of making art rather than the product also reminds me that healing is a journey and not linear.
Story 3
This space is a cosy sanctuary where comfort meets compassion.
Jue Ann’s non-judgemental guidance provides refreshing perspectives on any situation, fostering trust and openness effortlessly.
The addition of Ajushi enhances the calming ambience, making it easier to relax and open up.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking supportive therapy in a serene setting.

Story 4
Jue Ann has helped my daughter in many ways.
She has become more confident to share her artwork and feelings, open to talk about challenges she faces in school, and less resistant towards asking for help from teachers.
Jue Ann has been consistently patient, friendly, and engaging in her sessions with my daughter.

Story 5
Our sessions helped me identify and open the can of worms that was necessary for my self-healing journey.
Jue Ann has greatly helped me through our sessions by introducing different therapeutic tools and art making, to help me express myself better. This enabled me to communicate and access repressed information and perspectives about myself and my challenges from a dimension that would have otherwise not been available to me, such as through verbal communication alone.

Story 6
Art therapy ~ I have always been curious on this. The Lasalle course and the community project was a refreshing discovery.
The journey let us explore and express our thoughts through different media, forms. Essentially, it helps us go into the flow state through the art expression, thus helpful to mental well-being.
Thankful to know Jue Ann and the experience with her community art outreach project. Was touched by the amazing art stories indeed.
Be it art therapy or expressive therapeutic art spectrum, we can continue to do art for good.

Story 7
For me, going for Art Therapy helps me in various ways. These are the different aspects of the therapy which are supportive and aligned to my needs, helping me feel safe.
- Pet: Having a cat around helps me relax and feel at ease into the environment immediately.
- Seat: Sitting in an “L-shaped” position helps me to feel much more comfortable, less formal, taking so much stress and pressure off direct eye contact and presence from sitting directly opposite of one another.
Yoga blocks under the seat are bonus sensory tools for regulation. - Choices given: As I am very self-directed, having choices (e.g. talk and create art or talk only, different materials to choose from, etc.) are really important for me. It is a need for me to feel at ease.
- Approach: I love Jue Ann’s approach of connecting, sharing parallels (similar experiences). As I listen and connect to those experiences, I have a choice of whether I would like to try out what works or not, without the pressure of being given a task/ goal that I have to accomplish but do not agree or find meaningful. More often, these help me think, understand myself better after the session and inspire me with ideas on how to work on and help myself. I find this connection focused approach much more aligned with what I need, much more helpful for me rather than solution focused approach.
By Jue Ann holding space, acknowledging, validating and understanding the struggles that I faced, as I talk about them in our therapy sessions, it helps me to offload some “threats” in the brain, whenever the threat bucket is full, uncover, release the suppressed emotions and most importantly, “come home” to who I am. Over time, it empowers me to feel safe to be myself as much as I could as I continue to navigate through the complexities of life and people. And this, I think is the essence of art therapy.

Story 8
Grateful for Jue Ann providing a safe and supportive space to breathe and take a pause from the whirlwind routines of the world. It started as a way for my eldest child to be able to express and regulate his big, big emotions and work through the complexities of his inner world. He is uniquely gifted as being a sensitive child, able to pick up the feelings of those around him – that contributes to his exceptional thoughtfulness.
But also quiet and introverted, he internalises a lot of what he experiences and Jue Ann’s studio is where he can find a sanctuary to let out his feelings, through art, play or spending quiet time with Ajushi, the resident cat therapist who brings out the incredible gentleness in my child.
It has been 3 years+ and has evolved to my child bringing in his brother in art-making and on occasion, his mama for parent-child work. Art therapy is such a misnomer and sometimes carries with it a stigma that might problematise the child but it has been a much needed space for my kids, a space that is freeing, non-judgemental and safe to allow creative expression, to explore the different facets of self and to discover restedness. It is very much a “spa” session that grants them therapy for the soul.
So recommended, especially with the challenges of school and the daily intensity of the grind. Sharing my best-kept secret with love, please do approach Jue Ann.
